Penta Horsepower
Hello I am keen to find out the horsepower of my engine. It is a Volvo Penta, 1977 but I don't have much more information other than that. Can anyone help me find it out? Thanks

Re: Penta Horsepower
There should be an engine ID plate on the engine somewhere, usually on the port side assuming nobody has removed it in an earlier life. If you can find it the site below may help you with more info.

Re: Penta Horsepower
Can't speak for other models, but may be similar: on my MD2B it was maybe about the same height as the oil filter on the side of the crankcase. And smaller than those shown in the VP guide.

Re: Penta Horsepower
The MD2b was rated at 25hp - but I'd be surprised if any engine 40-plus years old can still develop its maximum original power!
Experience: That which would have been most useful five minutes before you acquired it.
