Tiger fore hatch locking leavers

Post by Andy Rose » Fri Jun 01, 2018 11:22 am

Hi there,

Does anyone know a source f replacement locking leavers for the fore hatch on the Westerly Tiger? My leavers have seized and while freeing them one has failed and snapped off.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks

A good starting point is Trafalgar Yacht Services in Fareham http://www.westerly-yachts.co.uk/ they are the font of knowledge of all things Westerly.

Unfortunately they have not seen any of theses hatch leavers for years. And couldn’t offer any clues as to where I might be able to fine some.

Can you post a picture of the good one and the broken one? If they are made of bronze they will silver solder back together and be as good as new. Any good metal shop should be able to do this as silver soldering is easy. Silver solder is a low silver content solder alloy used for joining brass and bronze. NOT to be confused with Lead solder (the sort plumbers use which would be useless for this type of repair and should never be used.

These handles were alloy, and seemed to break easily. I don't know what company made them but I don't think they are still around.
