Matching missing cabin locker front

Post by UserError » Fri May 18, 2018 9:17 am

Hello,
The previous owner of our Centaur replaced a pair of sliding locker fronts with a single piece of plywood into which he put a car stereo & speakers.
We'd like to return the locker to use and wondering about getting a passable match with the existing ones.

Has anyone been here & done this? Can a reasonable match be achieved without resorting to Robbins timber? Where did you find suitable plywood and/or stain etc?

Or, to go for a lighter look & replace the lot with...(suggestions please)
Many thanks

On my Fulmar the galley and nav station sliding lockers have a black tinted perspex. This may be the simplest way to get a nice looking locker front.

I like that, very smart; but a bit concerned that it might make the interior a bit dark as ours isn't as airy & spacious as yours. We';re plannig on painting the horrid formica main bulkhead white, so that will help though.
