Please can you help ?

A co-owner is broken down in the Merkermeer. The engine won't turn over. Does anyone know where the fuse box is located on a 1996 Oceanlord please?

Thanks and regards,

There isn't a "fusebox" on the mk 1 oceanlord and I don't imagine the mk2 would be radically different. Over current cut-outs for stuff switched off the panel is by breakers on the panel but that's not in the path from the batteries to the starter motor. Fuses and breakers for bigger stuff seem to have been added after-market into the battery box under the navigator's seat on mine.

Obvious statement but if there's no power at the starter motor, trace the cable from the starter battery, checking the battery on/off and the one-two-both if you still have one

Which engine? 2000T series VP engines have a main engine fuse box (clear plastic) on the engine loom at the top of the engine. Betas and Perkins also have an in-loom breaker fuse. A multimeter will show if 12V is arriving at the solenoid.

Thanks so much for your responses. Engine is a Yanmar model no. 3JH5E 3 cylinder. Local mechanic Mark in Muiden, diagnosed failed starter motor, but subsequently transpired the pre-starter relay had stopped working, and that may have cooked the starter motor. Never did locate a fuse box! All working now, but we were lucky to find stock for the relay as the Japanese manufacturer's earliest date for new stock is 11th July! The supplier with stock was Almera in Amsterdam. There is no stock anywhere in the UK. Thanks again for your input. K.T., Dreamtime of Blackwater.
