CTEK battery charger

Post by Konsortium »

Hi,

i've got a Konsort but up until now the boat has had a standard old fashioned car battery charger to top up the charge when necessary but the charger has just died on me. Should the replacement be a 7amp CTEK charger? I'd be grateful for others suggestions.

Many thanks.

Both my previous boats - Konsort and Duo - had Sterling 20 Amp chargers. These gave a float charge if connected in a marina.

7 Amps sounds a bit meager. The load of the charger should be at least 1/10 of the Amp-hours of the battery bank.

I had a Ctek M200 on 200 amp hours of batteries, IIRC that is 15 Amps, it was the one recommended for that size of battery (bank).
