A Bank Holiday week near Mull.

Post by aquaplane »

We have been aiming for Staffa/Col/Iona all year and not managed to get there so next week is the last chance this year.

Is anyone else likely to be about? Look out for Chiron if you want a chat. We have a kettle and other refreshments.

The way the weather usually works we will probably end up in the groove we have formed between Tayvallich, Craighouse and Ardminish bay.

Sorry we missed this. Did you eventually make it up to Mull?

Yes we did. That August we had a cracking week west of Mull. There were some brisk easterlies so Tinkers Hole and Bull hole were sheltered. We came to Tobers for stores and back down south via Puilladobhrain.

I still haven't got round Ardnamurchan! I cruised in company with boats from Tarbert for 3 weeks last July and ended up visiting old haunts instead of heading further north. We had a couple of nights in Tobermory and set off to Bull Hole but ended up sheltering in Bunessan instead.

The new boat is more sorted now so I'm aiming to get further north for the First Mate to come up for a cruise, she still works.

Looks like you had the usual mix of weather! What's your new boat?

Our challenge last year was to cross the Minch/Sea of the Hebrides, having been north of Ardnamurchan a good few times, and we did it. Lots to explore over there but we enjoyed Eriskay very much! This year's cruise will depend on wind direction at the time!

It's a 1982 Jeanneau Espace, Seminole. The old folks bought it in 1983 but mum sold it to me last season, dad passed 6 years ago and it's not been used much since.

I'm planning to be in Tobermory for this: http://www.sailingcruisingscotland.com/ ... rally.html

but I hope to get there earlier in the season too.

Looks like fun - though we'll both be working flat out by then in all probability!
