Mainsail for a Westerly Centaur.

Post by Pilot1p » Sat Dec 09, 2017 7:05 am

This is my first season as a boat owner and i am looking to replace my old Mainsail on my Westerly Centaur with a newer one. Is there a specific site or company that i should be looking at. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Welcome to the Westerly Forum.

Your best bet would be to place a wanted advert on the WOA web site. Someone may have an old one in reasonable condition that they wish to sell.

I purchased mine from Jeckells earlier this year, happy with both the sail and service.

I shopped around and ordered a new Main and a new Genoa from Jeckells as they were the most competitive of the ones i asked for quotes. I have not got the sails yet as the delivery is scheduled for the end of the month. But I can't fault the customer service or the advice given.

I'd be interested in this as well - in fact we might have to fight over the sails! My main and roller-reefing genoa are both on their last legs: they're currently at the sailmaker's being repaired but I can't see them lasting more than another year or two.

Incidentally, there seems to be only one sailmaker left within easy reach of Liverpool, and that's a retired bloke doing it in a shed in his back garden on the Wirral.
