Walder Boom Brake

Post by RogerLloyd »

These are enormously expensive, but seem to be easier than rigging a boom preventer line. I have just purchased one second hand. Has anyone any experience of using one?

Would the Konsort's lower shroud deck fitting be strong enough to use for the turning block? Or should I purchase an extra genoa-sheet car? The new car would probably need to go at the forward end of the track. Would the track be strong enough? Would this lead interfere with the genoa sheet's lead. And what is the easiest way to secure the end of the boom brake rope (without purchasing any more winches!).

I would be most grateful for any advice.
