Hi All,
The UV strip on the Genoa leech has started to unstitch itself in the blow this weekend.
I happened to be visiting Cowes, and a helpful sailmaker at Shepards Wharf explained to me a few things that I didn't then know.
The UV strip is sacrificial. It is there to protect, and will deteriorate rather than the sail. I think we mostly know that.
The UV strip is non structural. OK.
The UV strip attachment stitching is intended to fail before the UV strip. Logical, I guess.
The UV strip is replaceable. OK.
If the UV strip is in good condition, it can be restiched or overstitched rather than replaced. Didn’t know that.
To that last point, can anyone, from experience of UV strip repairs, recommend sail repairers in Hampshire UK
I don’t want to go to costly sail repairers for a simple job, and probably not to a Branded sailmaker.
Thanks in advance.

Also, when the third UV strip is done it's time for a new sail.
