Best polish to use

Post by Gary&Dawn » Sat Feb 27, 2016 4:52 pm

Hello all.
We are soon to be proud owners of a centaur, our first yacht and would like to ask members which make of polish you would suggest using, I have looked at various manufacturers websites and 3M looks pretty good but I need actual owners advice which would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Gary.

Gary

My local GRP guy swears by the 3M polish, but you need to use 4 or 5 coats. Personally I have not tried it, but will be changing to it when my existing polish runs out.

Hi Gary,

I use a product called MUCKOFF, the name does not do it any justice!! I have been using this for some 5 years and I swear by it, it produces an excellent shine and the good bit is, it lasts all season. It's not cheap(like most marine products!) and looks like windolene (if you can remember that?) and goes on a treat and you can polish by hand or machine.

Regards

I used 3M on my Griffon, one coat, after using Oxclic acid to clean the hull.
Put it on by hand and used a Silverline buffer to polish, with a sheepskin buff to finish.
I got a lot of positive comments too!

Thank you to all who have replied.
I will use 3M and see how I get on, I'm looking forward to giving her a nice shine but will probably be cursing after a while and my arms are killing me, no doubt I will be asking advice on other areas of the forum in the coming months.

Thanks again.
Gary.
