MD2B COLD START BUTTON

Post by wotan4 » Wed Aug 12, 2015 8:56 am

The control cable mechanism does not work properly and on further inspection did not push in the cold start button.
This button seems very stiff but the engine was not used for many months prior to me purchasing the boat so there could be a little corrosion making it reluctant to move.
I am intending to soak it in gt85 and then give it a light tap to hopefully get it moving.
Will I do any damage internally if I do this to the button as I do not know quite how it works inside.
The engine currently starts without the button but might not in the winter and this is my concern.
Any suggestions boys.

it may well be worth trying the decompression levers ,raise to start in cold weather then close when engine has speeded up!
