When turning off the engine using the engine decompression lever , the engine stops and the oil light and ignition light come on , then when turning off the ignition key the oil light turns off but the ignition light flickers until the battery switch is turned off .
Could anybody give me advice on this problem
Thanks in anticipation

Re: Watermota Panther Ignition
A marine diesel engine (I assume it's a diesel?) should never be turned off with the 'ignition' key. Dire consequences result, I believe, but someone more knowledgeable will no doubt tell you what. Probably the alternator, which might explain why the light flickers. There should be a T-handle on the end of a wire to pull.
Experience: That which would have been most useful five minutes before you acquired it.

Re: Watermota Panther Ignition
Not true for all marine diesels as the Bukh motors have an electric stop solenoid activated by turning the key fully anticlockwise till the engine stops.

Contact Stephenson's Marine on 01803 833343, they might be able to explain the issue.
