Volvo MD2B Engine Anode

Post by Uncle Albert » Sun Nov 06, 2011 12:18 pm

Is there one and if so where is it. I have looked all thorugh the workshop manual and cannot find any reference to one. My sailing colleagues are changing their anodes regularly and I feel left out!!!

Any guidance would be appreciated.

No, it doesn't have one. The engine just slowly rots away! But, they are good solid cast-iron engines and will last a long time

Mike many thanks for the assurance that I was not going round the twist.

On a similar vane has anyne 'descaled' their engine with a Car engine descaler ( i.e Wynnes or similar) . If so was it worth the money. There have been previous comments on this but they were many years ago and chemical stuff may have changed a bit since. Being on the Blackwater (with its reputation for Maldon Salt) I am thinking that the saline deposits might be significant.
