Database of Mast Heights?

Post by Garrison Keellor » Tue Feb 06, 2018 1:36 am

Hi,

excuse me if it has been asked a long time ago, I can't find anything in the Wiki or via the search function. "Mast" is too common for it ... although Duckduckgo was a little more helpful.

Is there a database of mast heights for Westerlys anywhere, or would this be something worthwhile for the Wiki? I am interested in the 22' and 25' models and wondering how much of a difference there was in them?

Would be helpful for interchangeability or upgrades.

Thanks.

The people who would probably know are at Westerly Spares/Trafalgar Yacht Services. They both worked for Westerly.

Sailboatdata could help you out although you will have to look at each individual model rather than a straight list.

Sailboat does not list them.

Neither do any of the rest ... Westerly Spares doesn't even mention masts.

You know, sometimes you need to know things when the shops are closed, no computer or internet nearby, and it's wonderful to be able to print things off.

Unfortunately, neither Sailboat nor the others, keeps such data.

Most of the Westerly brochures do not list the mast height, but I have found a couple. The W21 mast height is 7.54m and the Tiger/Centaur is 9.44m. This is the actual length of the mast, not the air draft.

I measured my mast and calculated the air draught last spring Allowing for the VHF aerial I reckon the air draught of a Centaur is 12m.

Does anyone fit a lightning conductor?
