A centaur, me and the weather

Post by stankingsbury » Sun Apr 07, 2013 6:22 pm

Hello there
I took the ownership of a westerly centaur very recently - which i"m very proud and happy about. I'm due to return her from
the Hamble to Wareham (33miles) this wednesday 10th April. I'm probably going to tackle it under engine for most of the way.
I'm not new to sailing but I am to the Centaur. Ideally i"d like to know if looking at the wednesday weather forecast if this trip
is going to be too much for me or the centaur - or both??
looking forward to your advice and thank you in advance.

Look at http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ and click on Bournemouth Airport and/or St Catherine's Point for general forecast for 5 days ahead.

As Philip said, check the weather carefully. It's due to start blowing up late Wednesday to Thursday. The Centaur can take anything but for you it looks as though it will be a long day, probably ending up by punching into the ebbing spring tide into Poole Harbour.

Hope all goes well, and that you join the WOA soon and share your location and boat's details.

great

thank you both for that.

She actually isn't ready yet as the sea cocks are being changed so the decision has been made for me.

These things do seem to sort themselves out! Hope to see you around the harbour sometime in the future. My boat is on a swinging mooring at Parkstone Bay Marina.

Happy sailing (when Malaika III is ready of course!).
