Re: Fridge

Hi, yes I did that in my Fulmar and am now in the process of doing it in my Corsair. I found that the Fulmar already had a double skinned coolbox with some sort of insulation between the inner and outer skin. Believe it or not the Corsair had a single skin coolbox with no insulation. I agree that th...

Re: Cooker choice?

I agree with everyone the Spinflo is the best choice. However I will contribute a very important addition....... Retain the gimbals from your Vanessa, they can be unbolted from the cooker and re-painted. Then attach/bolt these to the Spinflo and then hang the spinflo off the gimball hangers you have...

Re: Realistic value of a 1985 Konsort

Mid 2015 my father, not dissimiliar age, sold his Konsort ( I had a small share in it) for £17,000. BUT although one of the earliest ( number 21) it was sailed almost every week in the summer, everything worked, the engine wasn't the original and, very importantly, it was sold to a fellow club membe...

Corsair winches

My Corsair has non-self tailing winches secondary winches ( the ones on the cockpit roof, under the sprayhood) which I assume are the original ones made in Australia. What do owners typically replace them with? I would like self-tailers but wonder if something a like Lewmar 30 would be a bit large/h...

Re: Gross tonnage

..and my Corsair Mark 2 is 12.5, so it's clearly far from an exact science ! Suggest that 14 would about do it for an Oceanlord, or make it a precise figure such as 14 and 23 hundredths, after all the officials aren't going to measure it are they !

Re: ELECTRIC WINCH ON A CORSAIR

My Corsair already had an old electric windlass fitted when I bought it this summer, though very old and not very strong. It is an "Above Deck" mounted model which saves space in the anchor locker and is the same arrangement as I previously I installed on my Fulmar. I wouldn't consider anchoring wit...

Corsair Holding Tank with Bow thruster

Hi, I'm in the process of having a bow thruster installed in my Corsair. The thruster tunnel has neccesitated the removal of the holding tank which was a long triangular shape designed to fit under the port forward berth,it may be possible to cut the existing tank down by about 50% and re-use it or ...

Re: Which deep cycle battery?

Pethautwp, I too have just bought a Corsair so am interested in all related issues. You say you have 4 domestic batteries ; where are these located ? I've only got two - both under the navigators seat with the engine start battery next to them under the 'pilot berth' ? I do wonder if four domestic b...

Re: Replacement for a Plastimo Contest 135 compass

I'm surprised you say that the Plastimo 135 isnt available any longer, I bought one from Force 4 Chandlery on the Hamble only two weeks ago and then spent 30 minutes fitting it to my Corsair which had similarly suffered from bubble. I also saw the same compass for sale in Fox's in Ipswich a few week...

Re: Aluminium stanchions

There are a number of "solutions" you may find if you google such as pouring boiling water over them, trying to let some form of easing oil soak in etc, but in my experience they can get to a certain point when nothing will shift them. In itself they aren't a problem, but the next stage is that the ...

Re: Bow Thruster - Corsair

Thanks, I now have to convert Kw to HP, but I think the end result is that the 4HP would be better, yours seems to be even larger !
