Re: What was the original Tempest Propellor

Welcome to another Tempest owner on the forum .Are you sure that there is no size stamped on the boss underneath the paint?. Most unusual if there isn't. Anyway, whoever supplies the new prop will work out an optimum size based on the engine power, revs and boat displacement.

Re: Typhoon Rudder

Well, next time you are out in a blow, at least you now know where you stand and can be confident that the repaired rudder is now perfect. Its a job I may have to do on ours in the next few years .

Re: What have you done to your Westerly today.

Today we had a couple of hours out at the mooring, running the engine, stripping headlining and removing the pulpit for repair to one of the bolts. Very pleasant with a glorious sunset :) Sounds better than the 3deg C max and fog we had here all day! Just coulden't motivate myself to leave the fire...

Re: Renovations to Fulmar Concerto

Don't blame you Roger, its way too cold and even though ours is indoors wild horses wouldn't drag me away from the fire this weekend.

Plastimo Contest Compass

The Plastimo compass on Isabella had gone opaque from UV and was in pretty poor nick, obviously previous owners had lost the sun cover. Anyway I removed the compass today and managed to turn it around by 180 deg, so the bit that was showing in the aft cabin is now outside , the only issue which I ca...

Re: Replacing compact head with regular

Contact Cleghorn Waring for confirmation, but looking at this http://www.cleghorn.co.uk/files/MAN%20T ... doc632.pdf it would seem to be the same base.

Re: Leaky Konsort roof

Just as an aside, on my last boat not a Westerly, we eventually traced a leak at the base of the mast , not to a dodgy wiring gland but water seeping all the way down a mast head tricolour/ anchor laight cable inside the outer insulation. I always suspect wiring glands as the rubber grommets...

Re: Tempest Isabella, new to me.

Hi Jeff, nice to hear from you. Indeed I found and read pretty much everything you posted about your trip and ownership. Hope Luna is still well, it was one of the things that made me fall for the boat  We have two Jack Russels who sail, so they are following in well trodden paw prints :D Any...

Re: What have you done to your Westerly today.

Well that's it...........................Christmas is all over, back to "work" today on Isabella, finishing off the windlass wiring, mounting the breaker and crimping on battery terminals, even got to test run it. :D Despite being indoors, I was glad to be able to run the Eberspacher for an hour. Ne...

Spotted that, were the Spencer Marine in question identified as a bona fide company? Last time I looked nobody seemed to know who they were.

Re: What have you done to your Westerly today.

Good advice Mike. I took the opportunity to epoxy coat because the boat was out of the water for 18 months before I bought it ,and after soda blasting ,with the moisture readings very low I decided to go ahead with epoxy. Even then with a controlled heat and humidity environment its tricky to apply ...

Cant imagine there would be any issues whatsoever in finding a small engineering shop who will bend them for you if you bring in a sample to be copied.
