Re: Centaur - Saloon bilge

Thanks JR - What I am not sure of is where to drill the hole. It looks like if I drill a hole from the adjacent side locker it should go in the saloon bilge, but I'd like to be sure before I drill a hole.

Centaur - Saloon bilge

I would like drill a 1" hole to pass a pipe through in to the saloon bilge.

Is there a place where I could safely drill such a hole?

MD2B what oils are required

For an MD2B what oil do I need:

Engine oil – (A mechanic said that 30w is better for the older engines, would he have meant 5w30?
Gearbox oil? Searched Google for hours and can't find the answer to this one

Re: Centaur Automatic Bilge Pump Installation

Quick update. The water would need to get quite high before it could pass from the engine to the saloon bilge so I have purchased 2 Whale Super Subs, each rated a 750gph, one for the engine and another saloon. Each will have their own 25mm outlet pipe and thruhull.

Re: Centaur Automatic Bilge Pump Installation

I had a further look today, the salon floor does look lower than the engine.

I think I need to test if the engine compartment, and the salon bilge are connected, otherwise I might need 2 bilge pumps. Any thoughts on this?

Centaur Automatic Bilge Pump Installation

I am going to install an automatic bilge pump in a 1976 Westerly Centaur.

Is the best place to install the pump under the engine, or is there a better place?
