Re: Installing a plastic fuel tank into a Konsort

I ordered a bespoke tank from http://www.hendersons.co.uk (no relationship) The price including a WEMA fuel sensor and gauge was £450 plus delivery and VAT - This was better than any other price I was quoted including Tek Tanks who did not respond to 2 emails. The space in a Centaur is limited, by h...

Re: Installing a plastic fuel tank into a Konsort

I am just replacing the tank on my Centaur.

I went the plastic route, for 2 reasons, less chance of condensation (diesel bug) and plastic will not deteriorate over time.

Re: 1987 Falcon Bilge Keel

My understanding is that after '74 Westerlys were fitted with 25mm shafts

You would be best to contact Trafalgar Yachts would will be able to confirm this, and supply/give the correct size required.

Does that help?

Re: RE: Re: Pss shaft seal water lubrication?

Gary that must of been interesting finding out that problem! Very! After the yard lifted her in we went round all the thru-hulls etc making sure she was tight after a number of mods. Later on in the evening my bro asked what the water noise was, at the time I was confident it was just water noise f...

Re: RE: Re: 2 blade or 3 blade prop?

No doubt I am wrong, but I though only the last few Centaurs had a small half skeg. Mine for 1976 does not have a skeg at all. I'm not sure about that. Have you got a p bracket then? All the centaurs at the quay have skegs and they range in age from near the start to one of the last one built. One ...

Re: Pss shaft seal water lubrication?

I fitted a PSS last year.

My understanding is it just needs venting above the waterline.

Do not underestimate where the waterline is like I did :-(

Re: 2 blade or 3 blade prop?

I'm in the process of swapping my MD2B for an MD2020, both need 'Left Hand' props, I'm not intending to change the current fixed 3 blade prop a 14 x 11LH

Re: Volvo Penta MD17c impeller.

I have similar issues with a Centaur. But I was lucky enough to watch someone else. Rather than reach down and in a real stretch, try getting down in to the bilge, one foot either side of the prop shaft, then squatting down should get you closer. Not the most comfortable, I invested in a Speedseal t...

Re: centaur holding tank

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Interesting articles in the technical section, but I was hoping that a Centaur owner might have some further info. Specifically I am thinking of cutting out the 'cool' box and fitting the holding tank there I do not use the cool box for anything other than storing ...

Bump... has anyone any info on this. Looking to go on the Westerly annual cruise in 2015 and need to fit a holding tank over the winter.

Re: Centaur Furler Replacement

Thanks that thread is in interesting read! I'll make up my mind fully over the winter, but on cost/simplicity I'm likely going for the Plastimo, seems a good fit for an aged Centaur!

Re: Centaur Furler Replacement

I have looked at the 609, looks ideal, I'll give the a call.

Thanks for the info.

One concern, did Plastimo not go in to liquidation, and parts are difficult to come by?

I have a Plastimo outboard bracket and had trouble sourcing a spring.

Centaur Furler Replacement

I am looking to replace what may be the original furler, it is a Colnebrook, model unknown, but picture attached.

Advice sought on a possible replacement.

Thanks in advance.
