Re: fitting a Lofrans Royal windlass to my centaur

I have just fitted a Lofrans X1, I couldn't see any option but filling the old, with the X1 the new pipe position needs to be under the windlass base.

Re: MD11c Temp and Rev gauges not working

I fitted a TinyTach, and am more than happy with it, also has an hour timer, service timer etc. seemed to be to be a cheaper, more accurate solution with some added extras.

Re: Outboard for Centaur

I had a 5hp Suzuki on mine, bit found it difficult to get on the transom mount, put on the dinghy etc. I swapped for a 2.5hp, it will push my Centaur around the harbour, but not against the sea. I have now replaced the inboard for one that is reliable, and now I may even remove the transom mount. Wi...

Not mad at all, at least I hope not, as I am thinking of doing the same, so will watch this thread with interest.

Re: Centaur Advice Please

Hi Mike,

I have a Centaur based in Wells-next-the-Sea.

I am away for August, but would be happy to show you around in September if nothing sooner or nearer is offered.

Re: Centaur Holding Tank Plumbing

Sorry it took so long.

Here are the photos:

If I was to complete again, things I would consider are:
  • Having a custom tank made for the v-berth locker
  • Using sanitation hose for the vent
Hope that is of help to someone.

Re: Centaur Holding Tank Plumbing

I swapped my 'cold' box for a holding tank. But rather than a diverter valve, I went for a pump-out-at-sea only option, that just seemed best for my current situation, I can add a marina pump out option, at a later date if required.

If it helps you in any way I'll take some pictures.

Re: Re-stepping the mast - spreader angles?

"Depending on how much space between socket and spreader, try a piece of plumbing plastic waste pipe in the gap. You can always slice the pipe to fit."

I did exactly this, then wrapped around some 0.5mm stainless 316 sheet, seems to work a treat!

Re: CENTAUR STANDING RIGGING TENSIONS

The link to Selden above is dead, I have tried Googling for Centaur rigging tension advice, but can't find any. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Re-stepping the mast - spreader angles?

It is strange how the fittings are oversized compared to the spreaders themselves, you would have thought the manufacturers would have come up with something better. As promised here are pictures of the spreaders on Gemini: http://www.westerly-centaur.co.uk/spreaders Looks like some sort of hose pip...

Re: Re-stepping the mast - spreader angles?

Instead of tape, mine has some kind of plastic pipe holding them secure at what I presume is the correct angle.

Hopefully, I'll be at the boat this weekend and can take a picture to clarify.

Re: Cost of Mast replacement on Centaur, advice needed

IT does add up, I think you would need a new boom as well £511 plus VAT

I ended up ordering a boom from Jeckells, kicker, main sail and stac pack.

I was lucky in the fact I could refurbish my mast.
