Re: What have you done to your Westerly today.
Yesterday was dreich outside but fine aboard so I stripped out a lot more vinyl (great way to keep warm) while himself measured everything so as to work out how much carpet/lining we'll need to buy. Picnic lunch and tea aboard. The Old Girl's looking a mess right now but it's nice to be getting on w...

Re: What have you done to your Westerly today.
Today we had a couple of hours out at the mooring, running the engine, stripping headlining and removing the pulpit for repair to one of the bolts. Very pleasant with a glorious sunset

Re: What have you done to your Westerly today.
Bought the Old Girl a set of new (second-hand) cushions
. The forepeak and quarterberth ones we got with the boat are possibly original; the saloon ones had been replaced but had certainly seen better days.

Re: Flavell Vanessa Gas Cooker
Thanks - that's a really helpful reply. Our fitter's position was that if he fitted something that wasn't up to the latest safety standards and something went wrong, he would be liable. But if the regs don't apply to us in the same way as to coded vessels we might be OK. Might be interested in spare...

Flavell Vanessa Gas Cooker
Having bought our Konsort with a spirit stove we managed to acquire a second-hand Flavell Vanessa from another member with a view to having the boat's gas system replaced and the cooker checked and fitted. Unfortunately the gas fitter (complete with marine certification) refuses to fit it as there i...

Ah! There's a familiar sight! You should have given us a shout (contact details in the handbook) and we'd have come and said hello!

Re: What have you done to your Westerly today.
Not today but yesterday: rowed out and 'ran the engine' which meant a pleasant trip to the lighthouse and back in quiet weather. Trolled a lure in case of Pollock but nothing interested! Engine started perfectly first time

Konsort old-style mast query
Has anyone fitted an all-round nav light to the top of one of the old-style Konsort masts (French, fitted to only the first few Konsorts) and if so, have you any tips or problems to avoid?

Re: Dimensions for Konsort mild steel fuel tank?
It sounds as though your Konsort is the later version - ours is number 36 so the original version. Tank measurements may therefore be different. Himself got the old tank out by removing the cockpit locker lid to make a bit of extra space. We bought a 60L from asap. Not sure what the fitting kit was ...

Re: Dimensions for Konsort mild steel fuel tank?
Husband put a Vetus tank in ours and went for a slightly larger capacity. No problem getting the old one out through the locker on his own. However, it seems that modern tanks have all their outlets at the top of the tank and the bit at the top of the Vetus tank left too tight a bend for the filler ...

Re: Konsort Wheel Steering?
I've steered an oceanranger with a wheel and our Konsort with it's trusty tiller. No comparison. I just love the dinghy-like responsiveness of the Konsort and the immediate feedback you get from a tiller.

Re: Fulmar headsail foil
Try a sailmaker/rigger/yard to see if they have any kicking around after replacing old ones for customers. Our local sailmaker had a couple which they had cannibalised for spares.

Re: Spare gas bottle
We've decided just to stick with the one gas bottle and keep the Origo stove in a not-much-used locker as a spare in case we run out of gas somewhere remote! (Unless someone's desperate to buy our Origo because they don't like gas, in which case we'll use one of our camping trangia stoves instead!)
