Re: Renown adventure southwest coast

Hi Graham

Great to see your boat in the water, i checked in now and again to your wordpress blog and didn't see any changes to it, i wondered if you had packed it in glad to see you didn't. Is there another blog chronicling your boats rebuild?

cheers

Article from 1970 about Westerly Marine Construction

Uploaded this after buying the actual magazine on ebay for a few quid awhile back, although my PDF version is missing the top and bottom bits of copy so here it is from a site that hosts all the copies of 'Design' magazine from back in the day: Westerly Marine Article: http://www.vads.ac.uk/diad/art...

Re: Centaur chainplates

Hello all, "My nuts are heavily corroded and need to be replaced." Does anyone happen to know off-hand what size nuts secure the chainplates on a 1974 Westerly Centaur? Also, does anyone know if the hardware on a Westerly of that age is metric or imperial sizes? I'm away from the boat for a ...

Hi Simon, If your settee berth slides out its a MK1, if the top of the settee flips up and over to form the double by way of a hinged panel its a MK 2, if its the latter i'd be interested in taking a look at how it works and take some measurements. cheers MK1 arrangement: https://lh3.googleuserconte...

Re: How are the Keel bolts embedded into the Iron Keel

Hi HS i pulled everyone of mine from a 1971 Centaur and to be honest they were all in perfect nick, i replaced them only cos they were too short, i guess a prospective owner might be hesitant unless you can pull one or two, the port side ones on my Centaur were just threaded into the iron with nothi...

Re: Centaur -water under engine?

Hi Jason what does it taste like, salty or fresh, you'd be amazed how much condensation can create, not sure 10L but i always had the prop sump half filled and this i put down to rain coming in through the windows and companionway as well as condensation.

Any Griffon Mk2 owners about on South Coast?

Merry Chrimbo everyone, once again its that time of year where i like to get the tape measure out and measure the innards of a Westerly, this time around its the Mk2 Griffon as i think i've dropped a bit of a bollock in my copying the saloon berth double arrangement. I copied most of the mk1 (pull o...

Re: WESTERLY BROCHURES

Cant remember where i heard it, but remember someone telling me that the Westerly Spirit that got built got refused a stand at Southampton as the quality was that poor. Bit of a shame that the moulds may have been destroyed, blew me away when wondering around Northshores yard earlier in the year see...

Re: WESTERLY BROCHURES

Just been on the Wiki site for the first time in ages and have seen the plethora of brochures posted by 'Gerard V' just wanted to say thanks whoever you are, i've spent the last couple of evenings browsing the lot, especially the older models - found them really interesting. I was amazed how many va...

Re: Hello.... again!

Welcome Chris.

A great boat to liveaboard i'd imagine, its something i fancy doing with my Centaur when launched seeing as i live in my van 5 days a week and thats pretty easy as its just me. A corsair must be positively palatial!
