Re: New Centaur Forepeak

I know the chainsaw feeling, luckily I don't own one. Keep up the good work sunshine, you will get there :D

Yeh but the tape always comes unstuck part way through without you realising until you have finished :(

Re: centaur keel bolt diagnosis

Roger,

Are you saying there were no transverse bulkheads originally? I have never found any before and after shots that show clearly what it was like. I need to have another look at your blog but I need time or that as one thing leads on to another.

Re: centaur keel bolt diagnosis

I wonder if the cracks are due to the boat not having had its keel area reinforced. This was an issue with lots of early bilgekeel Westerly boats and certainly the Centaur. I haven't seen pictures of the problems but there is lots of info to be found about it. Roger's blog covers how he did the work...

The cracks in the first pic would worry more than anything else.

Have a look through Roger's site and you will find everything you need to know and a lot you may not wish to know.

Re: Conway lists to starboard

I think you will find the hull is not symmetrical port to starboard. My, and by the fact that the moulds will have been taken from the Sam plug, Konsort certainly isn't. I found that out when replacing all the bulkheads which is a long long story.

Re: VERY STIFF PULL PULL WHEEL STEERING

One thing I can say about the rudder is that it will not be neutrally buoyant.

Re: Removing a Blake Seacock

A broom handle cut down would have been a better bet but used in conjunction with heat.

Re: Recommendations for epoxy repair systems

I would avoid using epoxy to repair gelcoat as it isn't uv stable. Gelcoat filler as Roger has mentioned or gelcoat resin in styrene with pigment as required. Lots of hits on the Web I expect.

Re: Westerly Internal Varnish

That would probably be the previous owners favourite finish i would suggest as the factory finish would definitely not last that long on exterior woodwork.

Bow thruster for a Konsort

Age dictates that I look to fit a bow thruster as part of the on going saga of my rebuild. I know Phillip Stevens did this with his Duo which is the same hull. I also believe he did a write up on it but I can't find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction and has anyone any thoughts on models...

Sorry but anything other than golden to black is likely to be emulsified. Head gasket is favourite I am afraid
