Hello,
Can you please tell me if this is still available on the home page. When I log in it just refers me back to the home page.
Thanks

Re: Vetus manual windlass

Firstly a thank you Roger for the tip on boiling water. Unfortunately it didn't work, but definitely worth a try and it took me a while to scrub the big pan clean after a couple of hours of boiling away. So, it's still seized so I'm going to dismantle it and give it a refurb. Has anyone out there do...

Vetus manual windlass

My Vetus manual windlass has seized, and I'm trying to get it working again. I've removed it from our Corsair, and removed the drum, emptied ( a small amount of ) oil and soaked it internally( for days) with a professional 'loosener' ( not WD40). It's still seized. I've downloaded the exploded diagr...

Volvo 2003 gear box ratio

Can anyone tell me the gear box ratio on a Volvo Penta 2003 please. Fitted to a Corsair, with an existing 2 bladed prop. We're thinking of upgrading our propellor and our engineer needs this info to source the correct prop...many thanks

Launching trolley for tender dinghy

Hello all, Our launching trolley collapsed, rusted away as we dragged our dinghy out for the last time this season ( quite handy ). We bought our last one from Hayling (Island) trailers who have since gone out of business, Does anyone know of a local supplier on the south coast at all...or a supplie...

Re: canal du midi France

Good morning, We ( my wife and I ) went through the Canal du Midi ( via the Gironde river, and Canal lateral de la Garonne ) in 2009 in our Corsair. Had our mast taken down in Royan and shipped to to a yard in Agde. It was a great trip, not without its issues, not least trying to reach the first loc...

Re: Cooker

Morning John, We replaced our Flavel Vanessa 2 years ago with a Nelson Spinflo. We are very happy indeed with it, it fits in the same space as the Vanessa, burns more efficiently and the oven cooks ( most ) things evenly ( unless heeled hard over). The best deal we found at the time was the Marine S...

Re: Head lining glues

Konsortium, We went with all of Hawke Houses recommendations and are very glad we did. Their glues are tried and tested, as are their methods. Another owner in our yard saved a few pounds and by the end of the next season the headlining was sagging again. Worth every penny and our boat looks like ne...

Re: Raw water strainer for Seahawk

Hello,
This sounds like the standard Volvo strainer on the 2003 series engines. If it is, then go on to the KeyParts website they have all the information you need to select the right parts.
regards

Re: '86 Corsair Ketch

Good luck with it, whatever you decide, but I would probably double check that it is a Westerly Corsair. I have such a beast and your pictures do not look like a Westerly model to me at first sight...may be wrong, and 'should have gone to Specsavers'. I'm not sure if Westerly made a Corsair ketch......

Re: Replacement for a Plastimo Contest 135 compass

Just an update. We refitted our refurbished/refilled compass yesterday and did a rough and ready swing comparing the heading to the ( incredibly accurate magnetic ) fluxgate compass and found the old compass to be accurate within 1-3 degrees. Very happy with that, and it is much more responsive to c...

Re: Replacement for a Plastimo Contest 135 compass

Thanks both for the responses. Trafalgar have found a guy in Southampton who is doing the refill professionally for me...I'll let you know how that goes. I was reluctant to buy a new one in case of fitting problems, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Did you have to swing the compass in order to ...
