LED Cabin lights...any advice welcome

We want to replace our standard bulbs (double ended and tulip) in our cabin lights with LED bulbs. We're told, and read that they consume far less power and are becoming reasonable value for money. At the Boat Show last week we were unable to find anyone selling them. Does anyone know where they can...

Re: Volvo 2003...and problems with heat exchanger

Thans for this Vic. we have tried to send an e mail to them but to no avail....it seems very difficult to get any response from Volvo at all. We have now asked the RYA legal dept for an opinion on how best to proceed.

Where is the best place to reccommend great service?

As we have travelled further, and lived on our boat for longer we have been exposed to various service providers. Some have been great, and we'd reccommend them to anyone, others...normal...and some others have been simply rip off artists or incompetent. Should there be a new 'forum' for these recco...

Volvo 2003...and problems with heat exchanger

On April 17th (after waiting for parts) of this year we had a new starter motor and heat exchanger fitted to our 2003. The boat had wintered in Brittany in Port foleux on the Vilaine river and we were heading through the canals. We had an appointment for the 27th April for our mast to be collected f...

Re: Starter motor motor trouble in france volvo 2002

Having need of a starter motor and heat exchanger for our 2003 engine in Brittany earlier this year my advice would be do not buy in France. Their prices are astronomic, and I had to pay 2150 euros for a new heat exchanger and starter motor. Since then I've had continuous problems with the heat exch...

Re: Through the Canal du Midi to the Med

Bob, Interesting that you're going through too. We met a number of people who have been through with 1.5metres. Late this season we chatted to a couple on a Falmouth Working Boat, 28' LWL, 35' LOA, weighing 9 ton, drawing 1.5metres. They had just arrived in the Vilaine River having come out of the G...

Through the Canal du Midi to the Med

In April next year we will take Sovereign Flame, our Corsair into the Gironde, and through the Garonne and the Canal du Midi to the Med. We've read a lot about this journey, but would still be grateful for any experience that any Westerly owner has. In particular, we want to take our mast down ( we'...
