Re: Konsort window leaks.

Leaky square port lights: Obviously the first try is new rubber seals, perhaps a little vaseline if necessary. Leaky forehatch: I discovered that the wood (that the bolts go through) had shrunk with age. Captain Tolley's Creeping crack cure on the bolt heads and tightening up the bolts did the trick...

Konsort Main Hatch Leak

There was never a leak when the boat was vertical, e.g. in the winter ashore. Now the forward port side of the main hatch is dripping water very very slowly when it is windy and raining hard. I noticed the leak first last year when she was taking a lot of green water over the bow when she sailed acr...

Re: Aluminium stanchions

I am pleased to say that the stanchion bases have not cracked yet, which is what happened on my previous Centaur. On a Konsort it looks quite difficult to replace the bases because of the difficulty of getting at the underside of the side deck. I wanted to make that unnecessary by removing the stanc...

Re: Shaft Anode

Thanks for your advice. Looks like I will be fitting a shaft anode. Thanks.

Aluminium stanchions

I, no doubt like many other Westerly owners, have a few aluminium stanchions that have welded themselves into their aluminium bases. Eventually, I believe, the corrosion will expand and break the base fitting, and these are not easy to replace because of the difficulty of getting at the underside of...

Walder Boom Brake

These are enormously expensive, but seem to be easier than rigging a boom preventer line. I have just purchased one second hand. Has anyone any experience of using one? Would the Konsort's lower shroud deck fitting be strong enough to use for the turning block? Or should I purchase an extra genoa-sh...

Shaft Anode

Neither by Konsort nor my previous boat, a Centaur, has a shaft anode. Hull anode, yes. Also the Konsort with a Bukh engine has an internal anode. I saw a Konsort recently with a shaft anode. Does it help to put one on?

Aluminium stanchions

A number of my aluminium stanchions are corroded into their bases. Does anybody know how to loosen and remove them?
Thanks.

Anchor for Konsort

If you have a Konsort and 15kg Rocna, or similar weight Mantus, I would be delighted to know how it fits the bow roller.
Thanks.

Heading Monitor/Alarm

It seems to me obvious that when sailing using windvane self-steering that it is a good idea to have an off-heading alarm. Therefore I expect to be able to purchase a standalone heading monitor at a reasonable price. They are available for commercial vessels at a commercial price. Please would someb...

Re: Self-steering for Konsort

Hi Nigel,
Thanks for that. So we find Sea-Feather, Monitor, Hydrovane, and also USD and Hebridean (DIY kit). There is also the Aries (if it is not too heavy for a Konsort).

Could any Konsort owners who have steering vanes fitted please comment upon their steering vanes abilities? Thanks.

Self-steering for Konsort

Would anyone care to advise on a good wind vane steering for a Konsort?

Hi Nigel,
I gather that is Golden Film SAE 30 API CC / SD.
Thanks,
