Re: Centaur "TYRO" back in action

I was on my own, and I am brand new to this. So while waiting for things to change, I over thought everything, got warned rigid about the Portland Race, got my under crackers in a knot and put out a call for help. Me and my new skipper set off on Friday. I understand that there are a few Centaurs in...

Re: Centaur "TYRO" back in action

I am currently making my way to Dell Quay from Falmouth, with my new to me Centaur Sea Bear. I have been weather bound at Dartmouth due to this pesky Easterly wind. Hopefully I will get there this Monday as this weekends forecast is favourable. I will look forward to making your acquaintance at some...

Re: Let Down by Boatyard

A chap has come through at the last minute to do the most important work needed/checked on, before our delivery trip next week. Thanks one and all for your help and advice. Much appreciated.

Jonathan.

Re: Let Down by Boatyard

Hi Will My engine is a 2004 Beta BD722 replacement. It wasn't my survey. All I have been party to seeing are the recommendations. I figured I'd take a chance on a £4000 boat, that has clearly been extremely well looked after and had a survey in December. She is £4000 because she needs her rigging ch...

Re: Let Down by Boatyard

I have no clue, but I will check as and when I get down there. I have seen the engine running with water going through her and out the back, so I dont think its bunged up. Maybe it's a brass one with a bit of corrosion that needs changing to a bronze one. All the boat repair men who are currently wo...

Re: Let Down by Boatyard

BTW. I am assured by both the broker and the previous owner, that when she came out of the water last season, everything was just fine. Nothing on the surveyors list was a "must do".

Let Down by Boatyard

Me again! After badgering the boat yard for two and a half weeks, where Sea bear is on the hard, for a quote on about 8 very simple, pre launch jobs (I am in London, Sea Bear is in Cornwall) I finally got through to speaking to the organ grinder today. Baring in mind that flights have been booked, c...

Re: History of a Centaur

Thank you both for your responses. I am thoroughly heartened by the message from Caroline Hardy. I was surprised to find Sea Bear (nee Highland Lady) on part one of the Small Ships Register. However, it would make complete sense if she was purchased and registered as a commercial enterprise, such as...

History of a Centaur

Hello everyone. I hope you are well. This is my very first post and its advice I am after. The Centaur I am in the middle of purchasing has very little history. The nice chap at WOA who runs the database has been most helpful, but neither of us have bore fruit regarding sail number or yard number, d...
