Re: Centaur pulling the engine

I should also ask if there is a way to start this engine without a starter. Perhaps I can use an impact driver on the crank bolt? I would just like to verify it will run before throwing good money after bad. Thanks guys you are very helpful. Yes. At the front of the engine, just above the raw water...

Re: Mad or what....

Well the out come..... After a month of haggling, trying to find out who owned the boat, SSR, bill of sales so I could take ownership legally, finding a mooring, finding hard standing, transport from site sorted and the the funds all in place ready to go, I tore part of my achilles tendon. That put ...

Buying a boat 3rd hand

If you buy a boat through a broker, they act as agent for the owner. Fairly simple, they take a fee and you accept that they are selling on behalf of the owner at there request. Money changes hands job done.... Buy a boat from an owner direct, you just deal with the owner. Money changes hand and the...

Re: Mad or what....

While I understand your comments I will say its far from the worst project boat I've had to sort out.

If the engine is toast then I would agree with you. If its a runner then there's a lot less work that you think.

Re: Anyone in the south with an MD2B?

Smoking MD2B hey. Just cut its allowance so it cant buy and more cigarettes will solve it.

Forget 2 strokes, they always smoked.

Rings, valve seals if its blue.

Always have fresh oil and clean fuel and they should keep on going!

Mad or what....

After years of working on other peoples boats, being let down for sailing trips, boats sold from under me after months of hard graft and generally being used by others I am heading off to look at a Centaur for myself and retirement. Its a 1974 model B layout, MD2B Volvo with the usual Westerly issue...

Re: New to sailing

HI, good choice of boats to start with. As previous peope have suggested there are plenty out there with a wide range of prices. Do your research and get to know what model you want. Get an inspection with the boat and make sure that you haggle on price. From what I've seen sellers want a lot of mon...

Contact Stephenson's Marine on 01803 833343, they might be able to explain the issue.

Re: MD2B turns over but won't start - fuel?

IF you crack the injectors and turn her over and get no fuel then you will know its fuel pump. But from what you are saying i would suggest that its the fuel pump in trouble.
