Thanks Roger,
As usual sage advice, after my first flush of excitement I started to think about exactly what you mentioned in your post.
My big worry obviously was resale value.
I’ll shelve that idea!
Best Regards
Paul.

Junk rigged Griffon
How about this for a bonkers idea, a junk rigged Griffon. by all accounts they are cheaper, you can make your own sails and battens and they are very easy for single handed sailors to sail and reef. But..... how much to convert, and could you re- sell easily? I've read the Westerly Tiger conversatio...

Re: Centaur spray hood
CJ Marine, brilliant covers and frames, easy to fit.
Might be a tad over your budget but quality kit, with the bonus of being able to add a cockpit tent later if you want.
My Griffon hood was £800 all In including delivery.

Re: MD7A decoke
Fantastic Alan, I’ll give that a go, I didn’t think it would be too difficult and I’ll remember the bleed off nipple!
Thanks for the info on the pistons too, busy weekend coming up me’thinks!!

Re: MD7A decoke
Hi again, she’s a Griffon fin keel. By the way I was tinkering with the head yesterday trying to figure out how to remove the injectors, how do you get the three metal tabs off? Do you remove the appropriate stud? Thanks for that info regarding the rpm’s on the two engines, I wonder

Re: MD7A decoke
Thanks Alan, you’ve been a busy boy, it sounds like a new engine! Unfortunately I’m in the West of Scotland so not very handy to take a look at yours. I know of a place in Ayr that does heads so I might nip in there and get them to take a look. Of the top of your head do you know if both pistons mov...

MD7A decoke
Due to my engine chuffing exhaust out of the air cleaner, I decided it was time to take the head off to see what was going on. I suspect a sticky valve, but don’t know till I disassemble it. The head has a lot of carbon on it, and the tips of the injectors look blocked and corroded, almost none exis...

Re: Griffon windlass
Mine has a Lofrans windlass on the foredeck, a manual one that is. Can't see a problem fitting an electric one if you are handy.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Re: Cost of Konsort genoa UV strip?
Hi Bob, two sail panels were torn during a F7,the safest way to repair the sail was to let in two new sail panels, and replace some loose stitching, plus the UV panel. I budgeted for £500,there was a lot of work to be done, and was highly delighted with what I paid. I'm defiantly going to them when ...

Re: Cost of Konsort genoa UV strip?
Just to chuck in my tuppence worth, I put my genoa ( Griffon ) into Saturn sails in Largs to get the UV strip and two panels, plus some stitching done and they laundered it,all for £355inc Vat, this included picking it up from Troon and dropping it back, first class service as usual.

Re: Griffon Charging
Hi Brightstar, Many thanks for the offer, that would have been handy but I'm on the West coast of Scotland, so a wee bit far away! I had another look at the system, the batteries are connected properly neg to neg and the pos to the switch, so as you say when switched then the are connected in parall...

Many thanks gentlemen, I have to agree with Brightstar that they need to be separated, that will be next on the list.
I will investigate further regarding your suggestions and report back.
Best Regards.

Griffon Charging
I have a slightly annoying problem with my charging system, specifically the charging light stays on, even though the batteries are charging, or at best goes on and off. (At best it goes off for two seconds then comes on for one second!) I was at the boat today with a pal and we put a meter on each ...

Re: Best polish to use
I used 3M on my Griffon, one coat, after using Oxclic acid to clean the hull.
Put it on by hand and used a Silverline buffer to polish, with a sheepskin buff to finish.
I got a lot of positive comments too!
