Westerly corner at East Cowes last weekend

Stopped for a couple of nights at East Cowes marina last weekend and found myself surrounded by all sorts of Westerlys. Obviously pleasantries were exchanged, but as a relatively new owner, is this something I should come to expect? :D If you were there, we were in the Konsort with cream coloured si...

Re: Early Konsort interior woodwork

All I've done with the plate rack so far is to sand it back to get rid of the black bits and varnish it. I think it looks okay but my Wife dis-agrees. A shame the new veneer looks plasticey, is it possible to treat it and dull it down a bit?

Re: replacing furling line

I've just done this on our Furlex. I used a downloaded a PDF manual, I just googled Seldon Furlex and it came up near the top of the page. Ours may be the one you describe as new and shiny so probably not worth posting (even if I could remember!) the exact sequence I used. The hardest part was split...

Re: Early Konsort interior woodwork

Thanks for that. The only reason I'm not sure it's Sapele is I read that they changed to Sapele in 1980 something but I can't find what was used originally. I will try the bleach solution and thanks for the link to the lacquer supplier. I'd like to keep the interior as original as possible for no ot...

Konsort rudder shaft

I've just replaced our rudder shaft as the old one was showing signs of wear. The shaft is just under 1metre long, but to buy the 5/8" 316 economically I purchased 3metres which means I have enough left for 2 more. The cost for 3m was £28 +vat, which is about £32 innit? To make life easier I ...

Early Konsort interior woodwork

We have just started a bit of a re-furb on our 1979 Konsort that has suffered some water damage in the past. I have sanded back the plate storage rack above the galley sink as this was so bad I figured I couldn't make it much worse so all I need to do is more fine sanding and re varnish. There is an...

Re: sumlog cable

Thanks both. The cable is broken in about the middle so I'm guessing I can't remove it fully until I'm next out of the water? I wonder if it would be possible to buy a blank inner cable and make my own ends to suit. When it was working it was such a nice piece of kit it'd be a shame to give up on it.

sumlog cable

Are the cables for the Sumlog VDO log still available either complete or just the inner? Is there an alternative cable or repair?
Thanks

Re: Radar Arch/cockpit enclosure/davits on Konsort?

I've been thinking long and hard over the question of weather to fit a radar arch or not and have come to the conclusion it's a good idea unless I can be persuaded otherwise..

Re: Recommissioning a Centaur, Portsmouth Area

As you're in Poole I would choose either Ridge Wharf in Wareham or Davis Boatyard in Cobb's Quay. Davis will have more services nearby but Ridge will be good for the jobs you mentioned too.

Re: VDO temperature gauge

I thought mine was broken until I found a wire had come off the back. I've now replaced the wire and it hardly moves (if at all). how much did yours move before it broke?

Radar Arch/cockpit enclosure/davits on Konsort?

I have just bought a second hand radar for our Konsort and am thinking of getting a radar arch made instead of having the radone mast mounted and getting a cockpit enclosure/biminni designed around it with thoughts of having the enclosure able to reach halfway into the cockpit to have the option of ...

A late Thank You to the Boatliner team (W33)

My first post on the forum... Back in August of this year we were looking at purchasing a Westerly 33 and I just like to say a big thank You to the Boatliners who gave so much of their time to offer us advice on what to look out for and get first hand owners experiences. Saying that, and no dis-resp...
