Re: Westerly 25 rudder bearing questions

Well, as it turns out they do not make these thing for the 25, however they can fabricate them if given the specifications. What I think I will do is, if it's not something I can do myself, take them out of my boat and plop them in the mail. I think that would be a little better than me drawing some...

Re: Westerly 25 rudder bearing questions

Thanks! That site looks like what I need as well, and I had a feeling that the bearings were something like that... More bushings I suppose. Anyhow I have an email off to them and I'm waiting for a reply now. I dont much like the idea of manufacturing my own, but if it comes down to that I suppose I...

Re: Westerly 25 rudder bearing questions

Hi Peter I have decided to find out the hard way what's in there, I'm going to lash the rudder so that I can drop it while its in the water and simply hope nothing important falls out and floats (or sinks into oblivion) away. As soon as I embark on this act of stupidity I will let you know what I fi...

So Im back on the computer where my thumb is not the size of the keyboard and my attention span is longer than ...

hello!

I have just discovered that my first post didnt make it, this is what I get for using a phone! Anyhow, my name is Neil and I have a wonderful 1966 Westerly 25 that I am bringing back up to snuff. I just had her in the yard for bottom work, blisters, paint and a keel exam, also some rigging and rando...

Westerly 25 rudder bearing questions

Hello everyone! I'm curious about the rudder tube and bearings, I have a really serious vibration happening even at low speeds. What I would like to know is if I drop the rudder while she's in the water what, if anything is likely to fall out? Or more to the point, what is actually in there? Cheers,...

Re: Bermudan Rigged Sloop

I think your boat is stunning. The only problem with renaming boats is bad luck. If you have the bad luck to tell someone who believes in luck that you have renamed your boat they will have a conniption and you will never hear the end of it. You can always do a re-naming ceremony and tell them about...
