Re: Recommendations for GPSApps
There isalso a standalone GPS that will link to an IPad wirelessly, I used it before I bought a second hand IPad2 with WiFi and Cellular which gives you the built in GPS module.

Re: Bukh DV20 idling rough
Regarding oil I use the cheap Halfords diesel engine straight mineral oil in my MD7 of similiar era to your Buk, they dont need fancy high dispercency oils that modern engines need. 10/30 or 15/30 is fine. If the vibration is the same in and out of gear alignment probably not an issue. Does the engi...

Re: Bukh DV20 idling rough
Hi, Make sure the flywheel is fully on and tight! If you changed the mountts is the alignment correct How much do you need to rev up to have the engine running smooth, if it only a bit, then you might be too slow, try adjusting the slow run stop Could be a dicky injector. If after you have revved up...

Re: Griffon MK1 depth transducer
Brightstar’s depth sounder is under the forward bunk port side, in the same space as the heads sink overboard cock. The wiring runs down through the saloon Starboard lockers, into the heads space, across the space before passing through the bulkhead into the forward locker. I hope this helps, on the...

Re: NASA Clipper Wind direction 180 deg out
After checking the wiring and calibration I took it out and frightened it into submission, sailing in tight circles in 22-28 knots of wind, first to port then stbd and then put her head to wind and re-calibrated and hey presto it calibrated correctly.

Re: MD7A decoke
Having serviced the fuel pump and adjusted the govenor to allow the MD7A to run at 3,000 rpm, I tested today, at 2,700 rpm I was getting about 5.3knot, at 3,000 the speed went up to 6.5 knot, after an hour and half running at 3,000 there was no rise in temperatures or vibration - looks good. Not tha...

Re: fitting a Lofrans Royal windlass to my centaur
I have jus fitted an electric windlass to my Griffon, similar fordeck arrangement, I modified the chain locker and put in overside drains rather than draining to the bilge.
I have used it a few times now, it makes anchoring very much easier and less strain
I will post some pics later
