Re: Centaur Sail Number

A very belated reply to earlier postings, but I have been sent an old photo by the previous owner that clearly shows my sail number is CR 1892. Hopefully, at last, that's cleared that up.

Roller reefing

I am the proud and happy owner of Centaur CR 1892, built 1977. Lovely boat, except for the mainsail roller reefing system, which gives me the heebie-jeebies whenever the wind gets up to about 5 and I need to put a reef in the main. I have the original rig with the boom claw and kicker with a retaini...

Re: Centaur mast ladder

Of course, the luff of the main! (Why didn't I think of that?) So - haul sail out of bag, find my 10m measuring tape, and Hey Presto! 8.32 metres, or 27' 3" in old money.
Thanks very much for your help.
Does anyone have experience with a Deffee mast ladder on a Centaur?

Centaur mast ladder

I have a 1977 Centaur and am thinking of buying a Deffee mast ladder for her. I need to know the length from the mast crane to the gooseneck but I only have a small general layout drawing and the mast is stepped at the moment. Measuring on the drawing I get a length of 8.27 metres. Does anybody know...

Re: Centaur Sail Number

Thanks everyone for your replies. I've been away (not sailing, unfortunately) but I will certainly scrutinise under locker covers and everywhere else I can think of, as soon as I get the opportunity. But it seems, provisionally, that I'm sail No CR 1892. In the absence of other evidence that is what...

Re: Centaur Sail Number

Unfortunately Caroline at Trafalgar Yachts could not help unless I had the original owner's name or original boat name, which I don't have.

Any other ideas, please? It's not that important but it would be nice to close that question.

Best regards

Centaur Sail Number

I was born and bred on the Isle of Wight (yes, that's right, I'm a Caulkhead) and when I was much, much younger I used to cruise the Solent in a dinghy, stopping each night on some shore with a "boom tent". In those days I used to see the Westerly boats going by and I said to myself "One day I will ...
