Re: Database of Mast Heights?
The people who would probably know are at Westerly Spares/Trafalgar Yacht Services. They both worked for Westerly.

Re: Wind generator on a Berwick
As for droning and vibration, whether port or starboard, they will be heard and felt all around the boat - especially when you are trying to get to sleep. Easiest remedy for us was to tie off our Rutland 503 during the night! I also fitted 100watts (2x20 and 1x60) of solar panels, as they were more ...

Re: Stern gland
Fully agree with 433. (Poetic even) In the 12 years we had Duo Oyster, we never had a minutes problem with the Volvo shaft seal. On re-launching every year, I would burp the seal until water came in. Even when drying out in the Scillies, I would burp before running the engine/prop. But.....when I so...

Re: Stern gland
I would not try it - especially if you have a rope cutter. You have to remove the shaft from the coupling, slide the shaft aft, undo the securing band, remove the rubber seal, refit the new seal - then pull the shaft back in. If you have a rope cutter, this would have to be aligned while pulling the...

Re: Rusting keels and encapsulating.
I have treated the keels of two boats - a Konsort and a Konsort Duo - with both Vactan and Neutrarust. Neutrarust is a better treatment, as it leaves a thicker treated layer to apply primer and anti-foul. I used Neutrarust on the Konsort with better results than the Vactan on the Duo. For both boats...

Re: Falcon - Foot Blocks
Foot-block replacement sheaves are available from Westerly Spares/Trafalgar Yacht Services. http://www.westerly-yachts.co.uk/index.php?cPath=3&sort=5a&page=5 Jolly Roger will probably be able to explain how to replace the sheave. It will possibly be necessary to remove the fibre-glass coveri...

Re: Roller reefing
I had roller reefing on an old Colvic 26 that we had as our first boat. I had to let all tension off the main sheet, and put tension on the topping lift, to be able to reef on the roller - I had to let the sail "fly".The sail "flogged" while reefing, but the main sheet bracket di...

If you look at https://www.asap-supplies.com/brands/bl ... ock-402207 (righthand view) you will see the closed stop puts the handle at about 120degrees. Open is when the handle is opposite the outlet.

Re: Centaur Blakes Seacock Leaking
I stand to be corrected, but believe that closed is 120 degrees. The open and closed position was embossed on the Blakes seacock on my Duo.

Re: Konsort LOA
The length of the boat is usually referred to as "length BP (between perpendiculars)". This is the length between the bow "stemhead" and the sternpost. It will not include the anchor or transom hung rudder. The length "overall" should include the rudder and possibly the...

I would not go as far as Jolly Roger in saying The best rope cutter comes from Ambassador Marine as PBO did a test on rope cutters a few years ago, and they came up with a dead heat between Ambassador and Spurs http://www.haroldhayles.co.uk See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JImiuemabIY for some gu...

Re: Konsort Duo advice
We owned KD22 for 12 years with no problems, other than rebuilding the VP2003. Being a motor-sailer, the engine can be used more often than that of a Konsort sailer. There is nothing wrong with the VP2003 so long as it has not been excessively used just ticking over while motor sailing. We used to r...
