Re: MD2B ENGINE OIL OVERFILL

Just for information, my Md2b does the same thing under heavy loading. After checking with several forums and changing the water pump, oil and anything else I can think of the problem is still there. I did have another Renown pass me out in the Solent last year doing exactly the same thing.. I guess...

renown fuel tanks removal

I need access to my stern tube to fix a leak.
My issue is I need to remove the fuel tanks first.
Could anyone please give me any tip or advice on the best or quickest way of doing this as my summer cruise has been put on hold!
Many thanks in advance.

diesel in Port seat locker

I have discovered about a quarter of a gallon of diesel in the bottom of our port side seat locker. there are no signs of leakage from the fuel tank or any of the system with or without the engine running. The boat is fitted with a standard pair of tanks aft of the Volvo md2b engine. The tank was ap...

Re: Replacement boom - Renown

The previous owner of my Renown had already put single line slab reefing (2 reefs) and stack pack on the original boom. All lines are back to the cockpit. I have not had any problems with this layout so far.
I can try to get some pictures next time i am down the boat if it helps.

Cheers

Rewnown mainsheet traveler

The main sheet traveler on my Renown is low down in the cockpit just forward of the mizzen mast and wheel support. This makes it difficult to adjust by the helm. I am considering moving the traveler to the coach roof forward of the sprayhood and running the sheets back to the cockpit. Is this possibl...

Raw water pump replacement MD2B

A word of warning to anyone wanting to replace the water pump on the MD2B and possibly on any of the variants of this model. Volvo have changed the design a number of years ago and on top of buying the pump (At £150 ish) you may need to get an adapter kit at a further £40 as the replacement is not...

raymarine ST4000

I have a Raymarine ST 4000 wheel steering system fitted to my Renown. The course computer/display unit has been repaired after showing "Low Battery" after the unit was put into auto even with a full battery and the wheel drive clutch disengaged. I am led to believe it was a transistor at fault. Now ...

Re: Odeo flares

Like Jolly Roger I have a DSC radio, chart plotter etc plus an amateur radio hf radio. Yes I could lose my electrical power, but if you read any of the Yachting survival stories many parachute flares sent up where either not spotted or not responded to so both solutions have their arguments. My worr...

Odeo flares

I am currently looking at replacing the box of flares this year. I have been looking at the new Odeo mk3 flare as an alternative. Firstly has any one had any experience with these things (hopefully not in an emergency situation!) Secondly do the Europeans accept them as a alternative My boat is not ...

Renown mizzen mast

I have just had the standing rigging replaced on my Renown. The mizzen which sits atop the steering pedestal has pushed the cockpit floor down to the extent the steering linkage has jammed against the fuel tank. It was easily sorted by slacking off the rigging. My question is should there be a compr...

Re: Volvo engine panel

Neil, The temp gauge does a full deflect on being earthed out , so I am fairly happy the wiring is ok but still mystified.I will have another look as perhaps there is an issue with the second panel being connected (starter key only) With regards to the rev counter I can live with it for the time bei...

Re: Volvo engine panel

Neil,
I have checked the sensors any had the following readings, Temp sensor 30ohms after the engine had been running for approx. 10mins.
The rev counter sensor gives no reading either across the connections or each one to earth in turn.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers

Re: calorifier on Longbow

On my Renown (Same basic hull) The calorifier is fitted in the bottom of the port cockpit seat locker and a wooden shelf fitted above for protection. Works well but a pig to get to if any thing goes wrong!
