Re: Westerly moulds for sale in Stirling
Where would you store them? Probably be worth having rudder and hatch mouldings but see no value looking at those pictures, the description says 'inherited' take it the wally who took em and did nothing is now no longer with us?

Re: What do you do with old sails?
Gave my Centaur's entire suit of original (1971) Ratsey & Lapthorn sails to a garden designer who used them all on a Pergola she built, looked pretty good as i remember, saved a trip down the dump, happy days!

Re: Centaur rudder tube
Yep i have and its a pain in the arse, although i took the back end of the boat out on mine so access was better. The top plate of the rudder tube that is in the cockpit is threaded and that winds onto the top of the tube which is also threaded, the whole thing is held in place (on mine) with four b...

Re: Chiron of Mann is sold
Its a tough one regarding build quality, i don't want to do Westerly down but the build quality on my Centaur was awful, its what got me banned for life from YBW.com when everyone ganged up on me - still makes me laugh! I don't doubt for a second JR that your feeling yacht was built badly but hey th...

Re: Deck core thickness?
Might be worth having an exploratory in a sound part of the deck near the damage so you have a spec, might be worth dropping an email to Caroline at Trafalgar as they might have an idea of the laminate schedule.
Good luck.

Re: Deck core thickness?
I dont think you'd be far off with 3/4" ply to be honest, when i re-cored my Centaurs Foredeck and side deck areas the balsa was around 1/4" thick, the outer GRP skin was the same and the inner skin about 1/8" thick. Have you removed any hardware in the afflicted areas to see how thic...
