If it's leaning over so far it's inefficient sailing and the boat will be making lots of leeway.
It may be exciting getting the rubbing strake in the water but it's not good. It's also not good to frighten your crew, you end up sailing single handed.

Re: Fitting New Eberspacher Heater in Korsort
Glad you got sorted. Presumably your man came back with the bits he was missing.
Good to have a chat with you the other day. Did you speak with Bob on Romonist who was moored beside me?

Amen to that.Jolly Roger wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2017 3:01 pm As you will find out, no boat is ever finished, as more things keep being added to the list.
Glad you are back afloat and enjoying your hard work.

Re: Konsort anchor warps
Just use rope for your strops to start with and see how they look at different lengths. Then make some just right, it'll only take an hour to put 4 splices in new rope once you buy it and the thimbles.

Nigel has it right, the same as what you have, unless they seemed a bit short then add a bit.
Or you could work with what you have and see if it is good enough and buy wine with what you save.

Re: Mainsheet traveller wheels replacement.
I had a Centaur for 8 years and moved the traveler maybe a dozen times. If you unload the sheet, ie let it off, you can move the traveler even if the wheels are square. Going down wind I have gathered up the main sheet and moved the traveler and then put tension back on. Do you race your Centaur? Yo...

Re: New Autopilot
The EV200 is an excellent piece of equipment. I have fitted one to my Oceanranger. For me the most complicated thing was to get a tiller for the horizontal drive, which could be fitted on the rudder stock. See picture below, where you see the custom made tiller and the rudder angle sensor. tiller.j...

We've just bought a Dometic Starlight from GaelForce at a good price. Not fitted it yet as we have to take out the paraphenalia added by a previous owner who switched to Origo meths burner. Are you going to gimbal it? The Centaurs I have seen with 2 burners, grill and oven had to cut the galley mou...

Re: A Bank Holiday week near Mull.
What's your new boat? It's a 1982 Jeanneau Espace, Seminole. The old folks bought it in 1983 but mum sold it to me last season, dad passed 6 years ago and it's not been used much since. I'm planning to be in Tobermory for this: http://www.sailingcruisingscotland.com/west-isles-rally.html but I hope...

Re: Centuar keels.
For a 2 grand boat you can replace the engine and not be out of pocket, and you have a new engine for the duration of your ownership. But if the sails are shot that's another 2 or 3 K. Spray hood is £1 K. Dodgers and sail cover another £500. Upholstery I haven't priced but could be 2 to 3 K. Instrum...

Re: Re-stepping the mast - spreader angles?
Also, how are you going to measure the angle, and how accurate will it be? Stick the spreaders in the socket, throw the mast up and have a look, if they are even it's going to be right. Let's face it, how are you going to adjust them if they don't look as pretty as you would like? It's good the boat...

Re: Anchor for Fulmar
If you do replace your 25lb CQR and want to sell it, I might be interested as my Centaur has only a 15lb Danforth (and 16lb CQR). It's OK as a lunch hook but for a worry-free sleep I think I want a bigger one. I've already increased the cable from 25m of 6mm chain to 35m of 8mm. I had a 10Kg Delta ...

Re: Re-stepping the mast - spreader angles?
The spreader should be slightly above horizontal to equally divide the angle between the upper part of the cap shroud and the lower part. That's what I thought was the optimal set up too. In reality with a Centaur it could be anywhere between horizontal and the optimal, it probably doesn't matter m...

Re: A Bank Holiday week near Mull.
Yes we did. That August we had a cracking week west of Mull. There were some brisk easterlies so Tinkers Hole and Bull hole were sheltered. We came to Tobers for stores and back down south via Puilladobhrain. Pictures here: http://s340.photobucket.com/user/aquaplanebob/library/2014/Aug%20Bank%20Holi...
